"I was very pleased to incorporate another practice into my existing patient base utilizing Practice Transition Partners. I was looking to refine the nature of my patient base, moving it to be more focused into a particular market segment. By purchasing a retiring dentist's patient base I acquired around a thousand clients with a very high percentage of patients age 45 to 70. This was very important to me because of the type of dentistry I am most interested in performing, namely cosmetic and advanced restorative care. This has resulted in a number of exciting esthetic/restorative cases in the $15,000 to $30,000 range. Since little additional overhead is being realized other than lab costs and debt service, the result has been an increase in profit directly because of the shifting mix of treatment. When six months ago I decided to sell my orthodontic practice, I consulted with a long-time trusted colleague who had sold his general practice within the past year. "For a few years I was thinking of selling my practice in order to relocate but I was afraid to do it.
